The Muan County Council in South Jeolla Province has launched efforts to strengthen public trust in its legislative activities by conducting mandatory legal education focused on integrity, anti-corruption, disability awareness, and the prevention of the four major types of violence.
On September 23, the council held the training session at the Muan Complex Cultural Center, attended by 36 participants including county council members and officials from the Council Secretariat. This mandatory training was conducted in accordance with the Enforcement Decree of the Act on the Prevention of Corruption and the Establishment and Operation of the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission, the Enforcement Decree of the Welfare of Disabled Persons Act, and the Framework Act on Gender Equality. The goal was to foster a healthy organizational culture by strengthening awareness of integrity, improving gender equality, and enhancing disability awareness.
The first session, led by Lee Yunmi, a certified instructor registered with the Integrity Training Institute, focused on anti-corruption and integrity. She provided case-based lectures on the Improper Solicitation and Graft Act, the Conflict of Interest Prevention Act, and the Code of Conduct for Public Officials, emphasizing the prevention of abuse of power and the importance of fairness.
Next, instructor Kim Kyung conducted disability awareness training, highlighting the need to eliminate discrimination and create an inclusive workplace culture, leading participants to shift their perspectives. Finally, Lee Haengnyeon, a certified instructor from the Korean Institute for Gender Equality Promotion and Education, introduced measures for preventing sexual harassment and sexual violence, improving gender sensitivity, and responding to workplace violence.
Lee Hosung, Chairperson of the Muan County Council, stated, "Integrity and fairness are the fundamental values of the council, while disability awareness and violence prevention are essential conditions for the sustainable development of our society. Through this training, we will reaffirm our sense of responsibility as public officials serving the residents and strive to build a council that earns even greater trust."
