The Gwangju Chamber of Commerce and Industry announced on the 23rd that it had held the 2nd Industrial Safety Management Committee meeting to strengthen support for spreading a safety culture and establishing a safety management system in local industrial workplaces.

The meeting, held in the conference room on the 3rd floor of the chamber building, featured a special lecture titled "The Direction and Tasks of Industrial Safety Policies under the Lee Jaemyung Administration," opening a forum for discussions on enhancing safety in local industrial sites.

More than 20 participants attended the meeting, including safety management executives from local companies such as Kia Autoland Gwangju, Samsung Electronics Gwangju Plant, and Sebang Battery, as well as Lee Buho, Director of Safety Policy at Gwangju City; Lee Hyuncheol, Head of the Industrial Accident Prevention Guidance Division at Gwangju Employment and Labor Office; Lee Dongwon, Head of the Gwangju Regional Headquarters of the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency; and professors from local universities.

Professor Song Changyoung from the Department of Architecture at Gwangju University, who led the lecture, emphasized, "Industrial safety cannot be achieved by the efforts of companies or institutions alone; it requires the cooperation of companies, local governments, experts, and workers. The government recently announced a comprehensive labor safety plan and demonstrated a strong commitment to safety by allocating a budget of 2.0723 trillion won for next year, an increase of about 470 billion won compared to this year, to prevent industrial accidents."

He continued, "The government has announced various measures to address the structural causes of industrial accidents through four pillars: industrial accident prevention, establishing the roles and responsibilities of labor and management, expanding safety infrastructure, and strengthening sanctions to eradicate serious accidents. In the face of a changing policy environment, multifaceted cooperation and efforts are needed to raise the safety standards of local industrial sites to the next level."

Chae Hwaseok, Executive Vice Chairman of the Gwangju Chamber of Commerce and Industry, stated, "I hope this lecture serves as an opportunity to strengthen the foundation for industrial safety and the growth and development of the local economy. Going forward, we will continue to address industrial safety issues and strengthen the committee's role to ensure that feedback from the field is reflected in policy."
