Showcasing Activities Such as Picking Ginseng Seeds with Chopsticks, Weighing Geumsan Ginseng, and Experiencing the Life of a Peddler
The 43rd Geumsan World Ginseng Festival is being held until the 28th, and the Ginseng Marketplace Experience, operated on the Ginseng Herbal Medicine Street, is gaining popularity by recreating a traditional ginseng marketplace atmosphere. The booth, designed to resemble a traditional thatched-roof house, offers activities such as picking ginseng seeds with chopsticks, weighing Geumsan ginseng, peeling ginseng, drying and folding ginseng, and experiencing the life of a peddler.
In particular, the number of sessions has been increased to 14 per day, and a free Polaroid photo service has been newly introduced, capturing the attention of both domestic and international visitors to the festival.
In addition, the agricultural specialty market is located at the east gate of the Geumsan World Ginseng Festival venue, where the Geumsan County Agricultural Product Farmers’ Research Association and the Korea Women Farmers Association Geumsan County branch are promoting and selling around 30 items, including perilla leaves, Shine Muscat grapes, peanuts, and shiitake mushrooms.
By the 22nd, 1,700 people had visited this market and agricultural products worth 21 million won had been sold, helping to promote the excellence of Geumsan County's agricultural specialties.
Furthermore, daily performances of Geumsan Nongak, designated as Chungcheongnam-do Intangible Cultural Heritage No. 53, are being held to showcase the region’s history and traditions.
Kim Geonju, an official from the Agricultural Policy Division, said, "Through the sale of agricultural specialties and the Ginseng Marketplace Experience, we aim to promote the excellence of Geumsan's agricultural products and raise awareness of traditional ginseng culture."
