On the 22nd, Yongin City held the "2026 Major Work Implementation Plan Report Meeting" at the city hall video conference room, presided over by Mayor Lee Sangil, to discuss next year's key policies centered on these themes.
At the meeting, the city finalized its commitments to citizens for the final year of the 8th popularly elected administration and established policies that present a future vision for advancing as a global hub of the semiconductor industry.
In particular, the city decided to expand practical, citizen-focused projects across all sectors-including administration, economy, welfare, culture, and community sports-to improve the quality of life for residents.
Mayor Lee stated, "Over the past three years, we have made significant efforts to enhance the quality of life for citizens and laid a solid foundation for the development of the semiconductor industry, a key driver of national competitiveness. We will continue to implement citizen-focused policies that directly benefit daily life while ensuring the semiconductor project progresses smoothly."
During the meeting, 20 pledge projects and 252 new initiatives were discussed.
The city especially plans to expand administrative services incorporating AI technology. Initiatives include establishing an AI-based search service on the city website and implementing citizen-oriented projects that apply AI technology to infant playgrounds, dementia prevention programs, care services, and electric vehicle charging facilities.
Yongin City will also accelerate the development of the semiconductor industrial complex and, based on the "2040 Urban Master Plan," expand strategies and new support policies to become a metropolitan city centered on the global semiconductor industry.
Specifically, the city will focus on supporting infrastructure for the successful establishment of the "Yongin Advanced System Semiconductor Cluster National Industrial Complex" currently being developed in Idong and Namsa-eup, Cheoin-gu. Other key areas include revitalizing industry-academia cooperation councils for semiconductor talent development and providing integrated training for new employees at semiconductor companies.
Welfare policies for socially disadvantaged groups will also be expanded, including housing cleaning services for low-income families with newborns and infants, the launch of a new self-support business group to operate a refurbished goods market, human rights advocates for the elderly in welfare facilities, support for safety equipment for people with disabilities using electric mobility devices, and customized growth care through early identification of children at risk of developmental delays.
Major pledge projects such as the establishment of the (tentatively named) Eastern Region Women's Welfare Center, Yongin Bandabi Sports Center, Disability Center, and the Flower Distribution Complex Center will also be carried out as planned.
