Gyeonggi Province recently dispatched a Trade and Environment Investigation Team to Texas to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the electric, electronics, and semiconductor sectors seeking to enter the U.S. market.
On September 23, Gyeonggi Province announced that it had organized the investigation team, focusing on 10 local SMEs in the electric, electronics, and semiconductor industries, and conducted an on-site assessment of the U.S. market from September 15 to 20.
This dispatch was arranged to develop strategies to address tariff risks in the semiconductor sector-Gyeonggi Province’s key export area to the United States-amid the Trump administration’s announcement of tariffs of up to 100% on foreign semiconductors. It also aims to strengthen the foundation for local SMEs to expand globally.

Texas, where the investigation team visited, is a hub of advanced industries in the United States, home to global companies such as Samsung Electronics’ semiconductor plant, Tesla’s Gigafactory, and Apple’s AI server factory.
During the visit, Gyeonggi Province supported a range of activities, including a local trade environment seminar, one-on-one consultations with the Texas state government and related professional organizations, visits to manufacturing facilities of companies operating locally, and inspections of potential sites.
Park Kyungseo, Director of International Trade at Gyeonggi Province, said, “We hope that this investigation team dispatch will help promising semiconductor and electric-electronics companies in our province secure new growth engines in the U.S. market.”
