Proving Its Status as a Safe City
Through Systematic Training and Proactive Prevention Activities
Sejong City has been recognized as an outstanding local government, ranking second nationwide in the 2025 National Local Autonomous Disaster Prevention Corps Operation and Activity Performance Evaluation, which is organized by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
According to Sejong City on September 21, the evaluation was conducted for 229 metropolitan, provincial, and basic local governments across the country. It comprehensively assessed the operation of disaster prevention corps, including ▲prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery activities, ▲professional training and budget execution, and ▲mutual cooperation among cities, counties, and districts. The Sejong Local Autonomous Disaster Prevention Corps received consistently high scores across all evaluation criteria, once again proving the city's status as a safe city for its citizens.
In particular, the corps received high marks for its ongoing systematic training for members and proactive preventive activities on a regular basis.
Yang Gilsoo, president of the Disaster Prevention Corps Association, stated, "This achievement was made possible thanks to the dedication of more than 540 local disaster prevention corps members who have worked quietly behind the scenes," adding, "I would also like to thank Sejong City for its unwavering support."
Citizen Safety Director Koh Sungjin also said, "We will continue to prioritize the lives and safety of our citizens and further expand support for the local disaster prevention corps," adding, "By advancing our disaster response system, we will continue to build a safer city for all residents."
