On the 19th, Mayor Yook Donghan held a comprehensive planning meeting for the 2025 Chuseok holiday at the city hall multipurpose conference room, attended by department heads.
From September 26 to October 9, the city will operate a response and inspection team to focus on 14 tasks across four key areas: price stabilization, citizen safety, civil complaints, and transportation. A price control situation room will be set up to monitor the prices of agricultural, livestock, and fishery products, as well as daily necessities, and to share stabilization measures in cooperation with consumer groups and merchant associations. Price information for essential goods will be released regularly, accompanied by promotional campaigns. During the Chuseok holiday period (October 3-9), a "Rapid Civil Complaint Response Situation Room" will be operated to maintain a 24-hour response system.
At the meeting, Mayor Yook Donghan designated stabilization of the local economy, seamless medical services and citizen safety, and the handling of household waste complaints as the three main focus areas for special management.
Since September 8, Chuncheon City has issued a record-high 10 billion won per month in Chuncheon Love Gift Certificates, increasing the discount rate from 7% to 13% to stimulate holiday spending. In addition, the city will hold traditional market shopping events, run campaigns linked to consumer coupons, and strengthen crackdowns on illegal currency exchanges.
Various financial and policy measures will also be implemented to support small business owners, including maintaining a 2% commission rate for the public delivery app "Ddanggyeyo," providing 4 billion won in special guarantees and loans of up to 50 million won, supporting 2.5% of loan interest, and expanding small and medium-sized enterprise development funds from 40 billion won to 54 billion won.
Comprehensive preparations have also been made in the areas of medical care and citizen safety. An emergency medical situation room will be operated, health centers and clinics will be designated to provide holiday medical services, and major emergency medical institutions will maintain continuous operations. Thorough measures will also be taken to prevent the spread of infectious diseases and to respond to various disasters and accidents.
Household waste management measures will also be strengthened. Household waste disposal will only be allowed on October 3 (National Foundation Day), October 6 (Chuseok), and October 9 (Hangeul Day); disposal will be prohibited on all other days. To maintain a pleasant urban environment during the holiday, special collection of household waste will be conducted in areas such as Toegye-dong, Aemaekgol, Sumu Forest, Hupyeong-dong, the back gate of Kangwon National University, and Geodu-ri, particularly from October 7 to 8. Additionally, from October 6 to 8, 34 sanitation workers will be assigned daily to handle street cleaning and respond to urgent complaints.
City officials discussed Chuseok holiday measures by sector and reviewed and supplemented any areas that required improvement.
Mayor Yook Donghan stated, "We will provide special management in areas directly affecting citizens' daily lives during the Chuseok holiday and respond promptly through interdepartmental cooperation," adding, "We will do our utmost to ensure that all citizens enjoy a safe and warm holiday." He further emphasized, "We will continue open administration by observing situations from the citizens' perspective and developing policies together with residents."
