Major Venues Inspected, Including Gyeongju Arts Center, Hwarang Village, HICO, and Gangdong Resort
On September 18, Kim Jungkwan, Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy, visited Gyeongju to personally inspect the preparations for the APEC Business Leaders event.
According to Gyeongju City on September 19, Minister Kim, accompanied by Joo Nakyoung, Mayor of Gyeongju, visited major venues in succession, including the Gyeongju Arts Center, Hwarang Village, HICO (Hwabaek International Convention Center), and Gangdong Resort. They checked detailed preparation status for routes, safety, and auxiliary facilities.

The inspection was also attended by working-level staff from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, Kim Sangcheol, head of the APEC Preparation Support Team, Lee Seongwoo, head of the APEC Promotion Headquarters at the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, as well as officials from North Gyeongsang Province and Gyeongju City.
Minister Kim personally walked the participants' routes, carefully examining the movement paths of global CEOs and leaders, audience safety, and detailed facilities such as backstage areas, restrooms, and powder rooms.
At Gangdong Resort, which will serve as accommodation for business leaders, he also checked the readiness of lodging facilities.
At the subsequent meeting of the APEC Business Leaders Event Private Promotion Committee, Minister Kim listened to a progress report from the head of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s promotion team and discussed detailed plans for a successful event with private committee members.
Minister Kim Jungkwan stated, "This APEC Business Leaders event will be an opportunity to showcase the strength of Korean enterprises," and added, "The government will provide full support to ensure our companies can expand globally."
Joo Nakyoung, Mayor of Gyeongju, said, "As Gyeongju becomes the center stage for global business leaders, we will make thorough preparations until the very end to ensure the city’s image and convenience are flawless," adding, "We will make this event a turning point for Gyeongju to leap forward as a world-class city where advanced industry, culture, and tourism converge."
