Dong-Eui University of Science and Technology (President: Kim Youngdo) announced that its RISE Project Group (Director: Kim Kyunghwa) participated in the 2025 Busan International Medical Tourism Convention, held at BEXCO in Busan from September 5 to 6, 2025, and decided to expand global cooperation.
The project group stated on September 19 that it had signed an agreement with the Busan Medical Industry Council to realize the potential of the medical and beauty industries based on cultural tourism.
Celebrating its 17th year, the Busan International Medical Tourism Convention is jointly hosted by Busan Metropolitan City and Busan Ilbo, and organized by the Busan Medical Industry Council. Over 100 organizations, including university hospitals, general hospitals, medical associations, local governments, and wellness companies, operated more than 200 booths. Dong-Eui University of Science and Technology was the only wellness medical beauty education institution to set up an experience booth and run a student observation program.
At the overseas business meeting, which brought together 77 buyers from 14 countries including China, Mongolia, and Kazakhstan, the university's booth served as a promotional hub for K-Beauty linked with educational cooperation needs, confirming the potential for expanding cultural tourism.
The agreement with the Busan Medical Industry Council focuses on developing global medical tourism education programs, industry-academia-research collaboration projects, and nurturing specialized talent. The university expects that this cooperation will lay the foundation for Busan to establish itself as a city centered on cultural tourism.
Kim Kyunghwa, Director of the RISE Project Group, said, "One of the core values of the Busan-style RISE Project is connecting cultural tourism capabilities with the world," adding, "Through this agreement and the business meeting, we have confirmed the possibility that the specialized resources of local universities can be competitive on the international stage."
Kwon Yujeong, Deputy Director, emphasized, "The greatest achievement was that students directly experienced the potential of cultural tourism by communicating with overseas buyers on site," and added, "We will continue to create a global cooperation model that integrates education, industry, and culture."
