Three Yangsan-Based Players Drafted in the 2026 KBO Rookie Draft

Recently, as three university and high school baseball players based in Yangsan City were drafted by professional teams, Yangsan City's efforts to nurture local sports talent are bearing successful results.
According to Yangsan City, at the 2026 KBO Rookie Draft held at Lotte Hotel World in Seoul on September 17, Ko Junhyeok, a pitcher from Dongwon Institute of Science and Technology, was selected by KT Wiz as the 46th pick in the 5th round. Nam Hae-dam, a pitcher from Mulgum High School, was drafted by the Lotte Giants as the 74th pick in the 8th round, and outfielder Lee Jaehwan was chosen by the Hanwha Eagles as the 83rd pick in the 9th round.
This draft outcome is being recognized as the successful result of Yangsan City's years-long school sports development program.
In particular, the Mulgum High School baseball team, which was founded in 2015 with strong support from Yangsan City, has delivered outstanding performances, including finishing as runner-up at the 2023 Cheongryonggi National High School Baseball Championship.
An official from Yangsan City stated, "We expect these three players to showcase their skills on the professional stage and help raise the profile of Yangsan City's baseball," adding, "Yangsan City will continue to provide unwavering support for discovering and nurturing local sports talent in the future."
