Free Trial Event Applications Open Until September 23
Discount Promotion Also Available for Baro Plan Customers
On September 17, SK Telecom announced that it will offer a free trial of its T In-flight Wi-Fi service to customers traveling abroad during the Chuseok holiday period.
T In-flight Wi-Fi is a service that allows passengers to use Wi-Fi on airplanes, and SK Telecom was the first mobile carrier to launch this service last year. The service is notable for significantly reducing the steps required by existing airline services, thereby enhancing customer convenience.
SK Telecom will provide the service free of charge to 300 customers selected by lottery from those who apply for the T In-flight Wi-Fi Experience Group event. Any SK Telecom customer planning to travel abroad between September 27 and October 6 is eligible to apply. Applications are accepted from today until September 23, and customers must check whether their flight supports T In-flight Wi-Fi before applying. Winners are required to leave a review on the T Roaming review page, which will be sent via text message after their trip.
In addition, SK Telecom is running a special promotion until the end of the year, allowing customers to use T In-flight Wi-Fi for free or at a discounted rate. Customers on SK Telecom’s roaming service, Baro, will receive a 20% discount for 3GB and 6GB data plans, and a 50% discount for 12GB plans when adding T In-flight Wi-Fi. Customers subscribed to the 24GB plan can use the service for free.
T In-flight Wi-Fi is available in two forms: a voucher type, where customers receive a voucher code via text message to access the service, and an automatic roaming type, which connects to Wi-Fi automatically without separate authentication. Onboard, there is no need to register as an airline member or go through user authentication. Currently, the automatic roaming type is only available on seven Korean Air aircraft.
Yoon Jaewoong, Head of Marketing Strategy at SK Telecom, said, "We hope that customers traveling abroad will enjoy the freedom of wireless data from the moment they board their flights, thanks to this T In-flight Wi-Fi free trial event."
