Samcheok City in Gangwon Province will host the 18th Korea-China International Cultural and Arts Exchange Event by inviting an art troupe from Dongying City, Shandong Province, China, for four days from September 18 to 21, 2025.
Since forming a sister-city relationship in 1999, Samcheok and Dongying have maintained their friendship for 26 years through reciprocal visits by their art troupes. For this exchange, 20 artists from Dongying, including Xu Changqing, head of the Dongying Art Exchange Group, will visit Samcheok.
They will participate in official events such as an exchange exhibition featuring over 100 photographs, paintings, and calligraphy works at the Samcheok Culture and Arts Center Exhibition Hall, as well as a joint performance on a special stage at Jukseoru Pavilion.
On September 19, Samcheok Mayor Park Sangsoo and artists from both cities will hold a meeting at Samcheok City Hall to discuss ways to promote the development of culture and the arts, as well as to invigorate exchanges.
Additionally, the art troupe will experience major local tourist attractions by riding the Samcheok Marine Cable Car and exploring the Chogok Yonggul Chotdaebawi Trail.
A city official stated, "Ongoing exchanges with Dongying City will further strengthen the friendship between the two cities and broaden international experience for local artists. We hope that the synergy with the Samcheok Arts Festival will allow both citizens and tourists to enjoy a rich and diverse cultural experience."
