Non-Negotiating Group Leader's Speech at the Regular Session of the National Assembly
Seo Wangjin, the floor leader of the National Innovation Party, stated on September 15, "We must root out the 'insurrection-breeding' political prosecutors without fail."
On this day, during his speech as the representative of a non-negotiating group at the regular session of the National Assembly, Seo said, "The essence of prosecutorial reform is as clear as clean water under the sunlight: the separation of investigation and indictment, and the eradication of political prosecutors."
He went on to say, "Some claim that things will fall apart if the prosecution does not investigate, but does that argument hold even in the case of the Seoul Southern District Prosecutors' Office discarding evidence-seal bands? You cannot draw water from a well with a rotten rope. The prosecution should focus solely on maintaining indictments and making decisions on prosecution, while investigations should be handled by an independent, de-prosecutorialized agency."
He continued, "This current crisis of democracy began with the abuse of prosecutorial power. Political prosecutors have colluded with far-right political forces. They have attempted to undermine the constitutional order and privatize the state."
He added, "Let us end the night of insurrection and usher in the morning of 'Pasa Hyeonjeong' (breaking evil and revealing righteousness)."
Seo further stated, "If prosecutorial reform is the starting point for the restoration of democracy, then parliamentary reform is the next crucial step," and called for judgment against the People Power Party. Addressing the People Power Party, he said, "The forces that incited and defended the insurrection are now the main opposition party. If we do not hold accountable those who deny the insurrection and incite 'Yoon Again,' the National Assembly cannot serve as a bastion of democracy."
Regarding 'political reform,' he emphasized, "We must not grant political opportunities only to local power brokers or the two major parties. Diverse and innovative political forces and newcomers must emerge." He also called for the convening of a National Assembly Special Committee on Political Reform.
Additionally, he argued for resolving inequality through measures such as stabilizing housing, expanding public healthcare, and reducing educational disparities. He also stressed the need to transition to an energy system centered on renewable energy, asserting that a 'social rights-advanced nation' must be realized.
