Busan National University (President Choi Jaewon) closed applications for the 2026 academic year’s rolling admissions on September 12, 2025.
A total of 34,820 applicants competed for 3,455 available spots this year, resulting in an average competition rate of 10.08 to 1. This is a slight decrease compared to last year’s rate of 10.32 to 1.
By admission type: ▲Student Record (General) had 10,574 applicants for 1,049 spots (10.08 to 1) ▲Student Record (Local Talent) had 5,248 applicants for 495 spots (10.6 to 1) ▲Comprehensive Student Record had 6,346 applicants for 671 spots (9.46 to 1) ▲Comprehensive Student Record (Local Talent) had 1,475 applicants for 173 spots (8.53 to 1) ▲Essay had 5,131 applicants for 341 spots (15.05 to 1) ▲Essay (Local Talent) had 1,382 applicants for 32 spots (43.19 to 1) ▲Practical/Performance had 1,161 applicants for 189 spots (6.14 to 1).
By academic division, the highest competition rates in the Humanities & Social Sciences were: ▲Student Record (General) for the Department of Public Administration (29.4 to 1) ▲Comprehensive Student Record for the Department of Public Administration (20 to 1) ▲Essay for the Department of Business Administration (32.9 to 1). In the Natural Sciences, the highest were: ▲Student Record (Local Talent) for the Department of Statistics (27.67 to 1) ▲Comprehensive Student Record for the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering (19 to 1) ▲Essay (Local Talent) for the College of Pharmacy (52.25 to 1).
Since the schedule for the practical exams varies by department, applicants must check the schedule for their respective departments. For essay and interview exams, applicants must follow the instructions for their academic division and prepare required items such as identification and test admission slips at the designated time and location.
The initial successful candidates for Busan National University’s rolling admissions will be announced on December 12, 2025 (Friday) via the admissions website. However, successful candidates for the College of Arts (Departments of Music, Korean Music, Dance) and the Department of Physical Education (Special Talent Track) will be announced earlier, on November 18, 2025.
