[Weather Tomorrow] Rain Across the Country... Up to 80mm Forecast for Drought-Stricken Gangneung

[Weather Tomorrow] Rain Across the Country... Up to 80mm Forecast for Drought-Stricken Gangneung Yonhap News Agency

On Saturday the 13th, the entire country is expected to be cloudy with rain continuing in various regions. Although rain is also forecast for Gangneung, which has been suffering from the worst drought, the expected 30 to 80 millimeters will be far from enough to alleviate the situation.

The expected rainfall over the two days of the 12th and 13th is 50 to 100 millimeters (with more than 150 millimeters in some areas) for southern Gyeonggi Province, the Chungcheong region, and North Jeolla Province. For the rest of the Seoul metropolitan area (excluding southern Gyeonggi), South Jeolla Province, and South Gyeongsang Province, 30 to 80 millimeters is expected, with more than 100 millimeters possible in some locations.

In some regions, rain will continue through the 14th as well. For the inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon Province, 50 to 100 millimeters is forecast (with more than 150 millimeters in some places). In the central and northern parts of North Gyeongsang Province, 30 to 80 millimeters is expected (with more than 100 millimeters in some areas). For Daegu, the southern part of North Gyeongsang Province, and Jeju Island, 20 to 60 millimeters is forecast, with more than 80 millimeters possible in some areas. The east coast of Gangwon Province, including Gangneung, which is experiencing the worst drought, will also see 30 to 80 millimeters of rain, with more than 100 millimeters possible in some locations.

As heavy rainfall is expected to occur in a short period, water levels in valleys and rivers may rise rapidly, so caution is advised for safety.

The morning low temperatures are forecast to be between 20 and 25 degrees Celsius, with daytime highs ranging from 23 to 30 degrees Celsius.

Fine dust concentrations are expected to remain at a 'good' level across all regions due to smooth atmospheric dispersion and the effects of rainfall.

Wave heights are expected to reach 1.0 to 3.0 meters in the East Sea, 1.0 to 3.5 meters in the West Sea, and 0.5 to 3.0 meters in the South Sea.

In the offshore areas (up to about 200 kilometers from the coastline), wave heights are predicted to be 1.0 to 3.5 meters in the East Sea, West Sea, and South Sea.
