Proclaiming the Future Vision of "Charming Yangpyeong, Flowing with Hope and Inspiration"

Yangpyeong County in Gyeonggi Province (Governor Jeon Jinseon) successfully held the 52nd Yangpyeong County Residents' Day Commemoration Event on the 11th at the Mulmalgeun Yangpyeong Sports Complex, with over 3,000 residents in attendance.

This year's Residents' Day was held under the theme "Charming Yangpyeong, Flowing with Hope and Inspiration," aiming to strengthen unity and pride among residents and to proclaim the future vision of Yangpyeong.


The event began with various pre-ceremony activities, including the entrance of township and village flag bearers, Ogomu (five-drum dance), and a brass band performance. The official program proceeded with the national ceremony, recitation of the Residents' Charter, screening of a county government plan video, and the vision proclamation ceremony.


In particular, marking the third anniversary of the 8th popularly elected administration, a collage video showcased development plans for the central, eastern, and western regions of Yangpyeong, sharing the blueprint for future growth with the residents.


During the vision proclamation ceremony, Yangpyeong's future vision was presented with the core keywords of "safety," "environment," "tourism," and "health." Representatives of the residents and children participated together, making it a meaningful occasion to pledge hope and commitment for Yangpyeong's tomorrow.

On this day, awards were presented in various fields, including County Government Merit Awards, National Assembly Member Commendations, County Council Chairperson Commendations, and the Gyeonggi Province Citizens' Award.


In particular, a commendation was awarded to a 106-year-old senior citizen who has devoted many years to family and the local community, as well as to multi-child families who have contributed to overcoming low birth rates and are faithfully leading Yangpyeong's future, in recognition and gratitude.


Additionally, residents selected as exemplary citizens received commendations from the National Assembly member and the Yangpyeong County Council Chairperson, and contributors in eight fields, including law and order, rural development, and social welfare, were also honored.


In his commemorative address, Governor Jeon Jinseon declared, "Yangpyeong will never disappear," expressing his commitment to development together with the residents.


He went on to present the following goals: revitalizing tourism and culture through "Yangpyeong, the Center is Rising," fostering a premium tourist city through "Yangpyeong, the East is Advancing," and completing the western region of Yangpyeong through tailored strategies that utilize local conditions and resources. He emphasized, "Building on today's unity, I will ensure Yangpyeong rises as a self-sustaining city with a population of 200,000."


Following the commemorative ceremony, traditional performances such as Pungmul (Korean folk percussion), Sogo dance, and celebratory performances by promotional ambassador Han Bom and singer Park Sangmin received an enthusiastic response from the audience.

Subsequently, with the opening declaration by Yangpyeong County Sports Council President Jung Sanguk and the athletes' oath, the township and village sports competitions commenced, turning the event into a festival where all residents came together in cooperation and unity.


Meanwhile, Yangpyeong County plans to continue working with its residents to realize "Charming Yangpyeong, Flowing with Hope and Inspiration," and to pursue sustainable growth and development in the future.
