Mayor Yang Soo-hyun: "Doing Our Best for Yangju City to Emerge as a Cultural Tourism City"
Yangju City, Gyeonggi Province, announced on September 10 that it held the "Yangju Cultural Tourism Foundation Establishment Public-Private Communication Meeting" on September 9 at the Yangju City Comprehensive Tourism Information Center training hall with officials from cultural tourism institutions and organizations.

More than 40 people attended the meeting, including external experts such as CEOs of foundations in Gyeonggi Province, as well as representatives from local culture, arts, tourism, and cultural heritage organizations, and heads of cultural tourism facilities. Together, they explored the direction for establishing the foundation.
Prior to the meeting, Mayor Yang Soo-hyun held a tea meeting with the heads of the Uijeongbu Cultural Foundation and the Hwaseong City Cultural Tourism Foundation, where he listened to their operational cases and achievements.
In his welcome address, Mayor Yang Soo-hyun stated, "Ahead of the launch of the Yangju Cultural Tourism Foundation, we will closely communicate with the field regarding future roles and tasks, and work to establish a strong cooperative system in the cultural tourism sector so that Yangju City can develop into a cultural tourism city."
During the open discussion led by Kim Dowoong, Director of the Economic, Culture, and Sports Bureau, Park Heeseong, CEO of the Uijeongbu Cultural Foundation, and Kim Taedong, Head of the Cultural Policy Team at the Hwaseong City Cultural Tourism Foundation, introduced successful cases of foundation operations and conveyed messages about the roles and functions the foundation should fulfill in the region.
Participants also engaged in in-depth discussions on various topics, including securing professional personnel, developing cultural tourism content, and strengthening cooperation among related institutions and organizations.
Yangju City plans to actively reflect the on-site feedback gathered through this meeting in the foundation's preparation process and to establish a systematic foundation so that the foundation can serve as the control tower for local cultural tourism.
An official from Yangju City stated, "This was a meaningful occasion for the public and private sectors to discuss together ahead of the foundation's launch," adding, "We will continue to gather a wide range of opinions and reflect them in policies to promote the development of cultural tourism in Yangju City."
Meanwhile, Yangju City is preparing to enact an ordinance to establish the Cultural Tourism Foundation within this year and aims to complete all necessary procedures for an official launch in 2026.
