Jangheung County in Jeonnam announced on September 10 that it received awards in both the community and intermediary support organization categories at the 2025 Jeonnam Village Community Activity Evaluation.
The Haengwon 1-gu Village Community was selected for the top prize (Governor's Award) in the community category. The Jangheung County Village Community Support Center received the excellence award in the city and county center category.
This evaluation was conducted for 579 village communities and city/county centers across Jeonnam. Among them, 12 communities and 3 city/county centers were selected as final awardees.
The Haengwon 1-gu Village Community received high marks for resident-led care programs such as the "Happiness Table" and "Exercise Class." Meal support activities for elderly people living alone and senior citizens have become a venue for intergenerational communication. The exercise class was recognized for contributing to health management and the restoration of social relationships.
The County Rural Vitalization Center supported 19 village communities in the region through education, consulting, and project linkage. It was recognized for its achievements in strengthening networks among communities, establishing a foundation for autonomous operation, and providing customized consulting.
County Governor Kim Sung stated, "This award is an example of residents taking the lead in transforming their village, with the administration providing continuous support," adding, "We will continue to support resident-centered village communities so that they can become self-reliant."
