Some LG CNS Employees Detained in Georgia Incident... "Efforts Underway for Safe Return"

It has been confirmed that employees of LG CNS are among the more than 300 Korean workers detained during an immigration crackdown at the construction site of the Hyundai Motor Group-LG Energy Solution joint battery plant in Georgia, USA. LG CNS has stated that it is doing its utmost to ensure the prompt return of its employees.


An LG CNS representative said on the 8th, "Some of our employees working at the Georgia plant have been detained," adding, "We are currently working to determine the specific details, including the number of those detained."

It has been reported that LG CNS employees were working at the local plant as staff of a partner company of LG Energy Solution.


According to the IT industry, Hyun Shingyun, CEO of LG CNS, also sent an email to employees explaining the current situation and outlining future plans. In the email, CEO Hyun stated, "From the moment the detentions began, the company has operated an emergency response system at the company-wide level, prioritizing the safe return of our employees, sharing information as needed, and taking all necessary measures."


CEO Hyun explained, "LG Group, our company, and the government have been working closely together in a coordinated response. We have mobilized all possible resources, including legal support, medicine supply, and visitation assistance, not only for our own employees but also for partner company staff."


He continued, "With the CEO at the center, the headquarters emergency response committee, the Americas branch, the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHO), and the local emergency response committee led by the business division are cooperating in real time to ensure the safety and rights of both employees and partner company staff."


CEO Hyun predicted that once the situation is resolved locally, both LG CNS employees and partner company staff will soon return to Korea on a chartered flight. He emphasized, "Until the final procedures are completed, the company will do everything possible to alleviate employees' concerns and ensure their safe return."


He added, "Taking this incident as an opportunity, we will work to improve overseas work and business trip environments, strengthen compliance with local laws, and reinforce systems that guarantee the safety and rights of our employees."
