Lee Suzy is the first Korean to win the Hans Christian Andersen Award, making her mark in the history of global children's literature.
She has gained international acclaim for delivering universal messages and imaginative sensibility through wordless picture books, and continues to present experimental exhibitions that combine original artwork and media at venues such as Suncheon Picture Book Library and Jeju Museum of Contemporary Art.
◆ A Unique Experience Combining Original Artworks, Artifacts, and Hands-On Activities
This exhibition utilizes the entire main building to display original works from signature titles such as "This Wonderful Day," "Let's Play, Wave," and "Opposite Words Baekja," alongside media videos and interactive spaces.
In particular, the open storage area will showcase both the book "Opposite Words Baekja" and actual artifacts, offering a distinctive experience that brings together picture books and traditional culture. The special exhibition hall and Sky Garden will feature interactive activities and photo zones where visitors can participate directly, providing a wealth of experiences for families.
◆ A Participatory Cultural Festival with Local Residents
The opening ceremony will take place at 2 p.m. on September 15. During the exhibition, participatory programs such as group tour packages that combine guided exhibition tours and hands-on activities, photo certification events, and mission tours will also be available.
Kim Joosoo, Mayor of Uiseong County, said, "I hope this special exhibition with a world-class picture book author will deliver a profound cultural impact to local residents and children," adding, "I look forward to this becoming a meaningful time when picture books establish themselves as a language of imagination connecting generations."
This exhibition is notable for going beyond a 'reading exhibition' to become an 'experiential exhibition.' It marks a moment when Uiseong expands from being a simple historical and cultural space to a creative cultural platform in collaboration with a world-renowned artist.
