Full-Scale Training of Funeral Service Professionals Begins

Boram Sangjo announced on September 8 that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Future Education Institute at Myongji University and launched a new “Funeral Industry Management” major based on the Academic Credit Bank System.

The “Funeral Industry Management” major is open to anyone with at least a high school diploma, and students who complete the four-year regular program will earn a bachelor’s degree. The curriculum is designed to balance practical experience and academic theory across the entire funeral service industry, covering business administration, economics, labor relations, real estate economics, marketing, financial management, and funeral director courses.

This new major was established after Kim Gitae, CEO of Boram Sangjo, first proposed the idea to the Future Education Institute at Myongji University, emphasizing the need for developing the funeral service industry and cultivating specialized professionals. Boram Sangjo noted that this collaboration is significant as it represents a rare case of industry and academia coming together with a shared vision.

Both parties plan to nurture talent through this program and help graduates advance throughout the funeral service industry, thereby enhancing professionalism and driving service innovation within the sector. Boram Sangjo will provide practical expertise accumulated in the field, while the Future Education Institute at Myongji University will offer academic foundations and educational infrastructure to systematically train funeral industry managers. In addition, they plan to jointly develop VVIP funeral services, which is expected to broaden the horizons of the funeral culture.

Kim Gitae stated, “Our partnership with Myongji University is a meaningful example of academia and industry working together to simultaneously enhance the professionalism and credibility of the funeral service industry. Going forward, as a total life care company responsible for all stages of our customers’ lives, we will continue to lead the industry with differentiated products and services.”
