Invited Popular Artists and EDM Performances
A Festival Tailored for Millennials and Gen Z Grabs Attention
Jinju City in South Gyeongsang Province and the Jinju Culture and Tourism Foundation announced on September 8 that they held the '2025 Jinju M2 (Music & Media) Festival' at the outdoor special stage on the Namgang riverside in Mangyeong-dong, filling Jinju's summer nights with youth and passion and concluding the event in an enthusiastic atmosphere.
Since 2023, the 'Jinju M2 Festival,' which combines media elements with the former 'Jinju Water Music Festival,' has become Jinju's premier youth festival and flagship summer event, set against the beautiful Namgang River and the nightscape of Chokseoknu, with performances taking place on the water.
This year's Jinju M2 Festival maintained its identity as a festival for young people in the western region of South Gyeongsang Province, drawing attention with a variety of events and performances by famous singers as it aimed to solidify its status as the region's representative summer festival. Notably, the festival featured dynamic programs tailored to youthful tastes, such as interactive performances linked to EDM and refreshing water cannons to beat the heat. As a result, audiences in their twenties filled the seats, firmly establishing the event as a "Millennials & Gen Z-tailored flagship summer festival."
In particular, the '2025 National Heritage Media Art Jinju Fortress' event was held at Jinju Fortress until September 7, adding a special media element that fantastically illuminated the summer nights along the Namgang riverside.
On September 5, the "Rap Beat Contest" (six rap teams and four beatbox teams) and celebratory performances by guest singers BewhY and Kid Milli, who participated in the rap competition, heightened the festival atmosphere. On September 6, a KNN broadcast recording and passionate performances by popular artists Apink, Lun8, Lightsum, Han Yohan, and Angel Noise sent the audience into a frenzy.
Side events included a "Food Zone" and "Beer Zone" within the festival grounds, allowing visitors to enjoy the water stage performances on late summer nights in a more enjoyable and refreshing way. In addition, an EDM fringe performance was held after the main event for those who wanted more, making the festival highly popular thanks to its audience-focused programming.
Alongside the music festival, the "All Night Market," an improved version of the "Food Zone" in collaboration with Jinju Beer, was held, further increasing visitor satisfaction as a festival where guests could enjoy late-night snacks. Convenience facilities to cope with the heat, such as a "Rest Zone" and a "Mist Zone," were also expanded, and additional mobile restrooms for women were installed, highlighting the organizers' efforts to accommodate the audience.
Mayor Cho Kyu-il stated, "The Jinju M2 Festival has taken another step forward as a flagship summer festival tailored for the younger generation by offering differentiated cultural content that combines music and media." He also encouraged active interest and participation in the Jinju Namgang Yudeung Festival, which opens on October 4, as well as the Gaecheon Art Festival and the Korea Drama Festival, both opening on October 10.
