"Stay Strong" ... Sancheong County Provides 80,000 Bottles of Water to Gangneung City Amid Severe Drought

Warmth Received After Wildfire
Returned Through Water-Sharing Campaign

Sancheong County in South Gyeongsang Province, which suffered from a large-scale wildfire in March and extreme heavy rains in July, is now drawing attention for providing support to residents of Gangneung City who are suffering from drought.

On September 8, Sancheong County announced that it had urgently supplied approximately 80,000 bottles of bottled water to Gangneung City, which is experiencing severe difficulties in providing household water due to an extreme drought.

Gangneung City has been facing disruptions in household water supply due to continued lack of rainfall and record-breaking heatwaves, with some areas even experiencing water rationing, causing significant inconvenience for residents.

In response, Sancheong County joined the water-sharing campaign to express solidarity with the people of Gangneung City, who are facing hardship, and to remember the warmth and support received from across the country during disasters such as large-scale wildfires and extreme heavy rains.

This initiative goes beyond simply providing bottled water; it aims to foster a culture of sharing, especially in times of difficulty, and to put into practice the values of mutual prosperity and cooperation between local governments.

The donated bottled water will be distributed to each village and household through administrative agencies, and is expected to directly help residents secure drinking water.

County Governor Lee Seunghwa said, "I hope this support will provide at least some comfort to the people of Gangneung City, who are experiencing an unprecedented water shortage due to severe drought and heatwaves," adding, "We will continue to unite the hearts of all county residents to help neighbors in need."
