Tori Brennum Faces Barrage of Text Messages
Accusations of Racism and Online Attacks Intensify
Family Members Also Targeted Amid Backlash
It has been reported that American politician Tori Brennum, who claimed to have tipped off authorities about immigrant workers at the Hyundai Motor Group-LG Energy Solution joint battery factory in Georgia, is now receiving a barrage of text messages accusing her of "ruining multi-billion dollar deals with Korea."
As accusations of racism spread online, Brennum's daughter even stepped forward to plead for an end to excessive stalking behavior.
On September 5 (local time), Tori Brennum revealed in an interview with Rolling Stone that she had reported the factory to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Brennum is a far-right Republican politician running for the U.S. House of Representatives in Georgia's 12th district.
Previously, she stated, "The factory was not hiring Georgia residents, so I reported it to ICE regarding the employment of immigrant workers." Brennum also added, "I voted for the mass deportation of illegal immigrants."
In the same interview, Brennum posted a photo of herself holding a modified AR-15 rifle with a laser scope on her social media, writing, "I'm curious what you wrote in my inbox."
Indeed, criticism against Brennum has been mounting online. Some netizens commented, "How stupid do you have to be to jeopardize multi-billion dollar deals with Korea because of white supremacy or MAGA (Make America Great Again) hatred?" Others called her "Gestapo."

Some have expressed anger, asking, "If Hyundai pulls out of Georgia and 8,500 jobs are lost, who should we thank?" and "Tori is trying to prevent Georgians from getting jobs."
Brennum's family members' personal accounts have also become targets. On the same day, Brennum's daughter posted on Brennum's Facebook, claiming, "Recently, not only my mother but also her underage children have had their personal social media accounts found, their privacy invaded, and hateful comments posted."
She warned, "Targeting children by stalking their personal social media accounts and sending harassing messages is seriously crossing the line," adding, "Just because my mother is running for Congress and has strong opinions that some may disagree with, does not mean this behavior is acceptable."
