Sequential Release of 18 Titles on "Amazon MX Player"
Leveraging Comprehensive Partnerships to Expand K-Content Distribution
CJ ENM is strengthening its presence in the global market by expanding content distribution through a partnership with Amazon.
On September 4, CJ ENM announced that it will sequentially supply 18 Korean content titles to Amazon MX Player, an ad-supported free OTT (AVOD) platform in India, starting from September 8.
The lineup includes proven content that has been loved worldwide, such as the drama "Lovely Runner," as well as "My Lovely Liar," "Wedding Impossible," "Twinkling Watermelon," and "Delightfully Deceitful," which will be introduced to audiences through next year.
The CJ ENM content supplied to Amazon MX Player will be dubbed in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu to accommodate the diverse regional languages and cultural characteristics of India.
This collaboration marks the first partnership between CJ ENM and Amazon since Amazon acquired the Indian local OTT platform MX Player last year. It is expected to serve as an important milestone in accelerating the global expansion of Korean content.
The Indian OTT market, home to the world’s largest population of 1.4 billion, is evolving around low-cost plans and ad-supported free models (AVOD). With the expansion of digital infrastructure, the market is growing rapidly every year and is considered to have enormous potential.
Meanwhile, CJ ENM, which has declared this year as the inaugural year for global acceleration, is expanding the distribution of Korean content by leveraging comprehensive partnerships with global OTT platforms. In May, the company established a strategic partnership with Amazon Prime Video, building a cooperative relationship to provide a wide range of content IP, from existing popular dramas to new releases.
