Vivian Wilson (21), the transgender daughter of Elon Musk, the world's richest man and CEO of Tesla, has made headlines by candidly sharing her financial struggles. She revealed that she lives with three roommates and saves on food expenses by eating inexpensive takeout sushi sets, surprising many.

In an interview with the American media outlet The Cut, published on September 3 (local time), Wilson opened up about her daily life, gender transition, relationship with her family, and her desire to break away from her father's wealth and fame.
She said, "People think I have a lot of money, but I can't just spend millions of dollars as I please. My mom is wealthy, and my father is unimaginably rich, but living with roommates is much cheaper." She added, "I live with three roommates and save on food by eating cheap sushi sets." Although her father Musk lost 122 trillion won this year due to a plunge in Tesla's stock price, he is still considered the richest person in the United States with a net worth of $423 billion (approximately 588.393 trillion won).
Wilson, who works as a model, said, "I plan to enroll in a local community college this fall to continue studying languages," adding, "College is too expensive, and I have no inheritance." She continued, "I have no desire to become super-rich. Just being able to buy food, spend time with friends, have a home, and earn enough income puts me in a much better position than most people my age living in LA," expressing her satisfaction.
Public Estrangement from Father Musk after Gender Transition
Wilson is one of six children born to Musk and his first wife, Justine Wilson. In 2022, at the age of 18, she announced her gender transition, changed her surname, and cut ties with her father. At the time, she publicly declared, "I no longer wish to be related to my biological father in any way." Subsequently, Musk publicly supported Republican presidential candidates who advocated anti-transgender policies and mentioned his daughter. He sparked controversy by saying, "My child fell victim to the woke mind virus." In response, Wilson told NBC in an interview, "He gets angry easily, is indifferent, and narcissistic."
In the interview, Wilson shared that she enjoys video games and K-pop, naming the Netflix animation "K-Pop Demon Hunters" as her favorite. She concluded the interview by saying, "There are burdens that come with being known, but I am satisfied with my life now because I have the freedom to earn money and do what I want."
