1,286 Teams Apply in Just One Month
Local Spending Increases by 3.16 Times
Yeongam County in South Jeolla Province is expanding its "Yeongam Travel One Plus One (1+1) Program."
According to the county on September 2, this travel support program is a customized incentive system designed to reduce the financial burden on tourists and encourage repeat visits, thereby revitalizing the local economy. Previously, only travel teams of two or more people were eligible to participate, but now solo travelers can also receive benefits worth up to 120,000 won.
Launched for the first time on July 31 this year, the program quickly gained popularity, with 1,286 teams applying within just one month. Tourists spent approximately 106 million won, resulting in a consumption effect 3.16 times greater than the 33 million won in incentives provided by Yeongam County.
Under the expanded program, solo travelers who spend over 50,000 won in Yeongam and upload their receipts, identification, and photos of tourist sites to the "Yeongam Travel One Plus One" website can receive Yeongam Love Gift Certificates or online Yeongam Mall points, depending on the number of visits: 25,000 won for the first visit, 35,000 won for the second, and 50,000 won for the third. Additionally, an extra 10,000 won in Yeongam Mall points is awarded on the third visit.
County Governor Woo Seunghee stated, "We will develop the Yeongam Travel One Plus One Program into a regional tourism model that benefits both residents and visitors," adding, "We will ensure that solo travelers can fully experience the charm and benefits of Yeongam."
