Gwangju Bank announced on September 2 that it will hold the 'IWaNa Event' until November, providing allowances when opening minor accounts and check cards through non-face-to-face channels.
The 'IWaNa Event' can be accessed through the 'IWa Account Opening' and 'IWa Check Card Issuance' services offered on the Gwangju WaBank App.
If a parent opens a new account for a child under the age of 19, 5,000 won in cash will be deposited into the child's account. If a check card is issued for a child aged 12 or older and used for purchases totaling 10,000 won or more, an additional 5,000 won will be provided. Each child can receive benefits of up to 10,000 won.
The event will be limited to the first 2,000 accounts on a first-come, first-served basis until November. Customers who meet the requirements will be automatically entered without any separate application process. Prizes will be deposited into the child's account on the 10th of each month, provided the account is active and the customer has agreed to receive marketing messages via mobile phone as of the prize payment date.
Meanwhile, since June last year, Gwangju Bank has improved the procedures for opening minor accounts and issuing check cards to enhance customer convenience. Previously, parents had to prepare complicated documents and visit a branch in person. Now, accounts and cards can be easily opened through non-face-to-face channels.
Song Seokhyun, Head of the Digital Finance Center, stated, "Opening an account in a child's name is a valuable first step in learning to manage allowances and develop sound financial habits." He added, "Gwangju Bank will continue to expand customized services and benefits for future generations."
