5.8% (113 Billion Won) Increase Over First Supplementary Budget
Focus on Livelihood Recovery:
Consumption Coupons, Heavy Rain Restoration, and Citizen Welfare
Jinju City in South Gyeongsang Province announced on September 2 that it has submitted the second supplementary budget proposal for 2025 to the city council, amounting to 2.053 trillion won.
This supplementary budget proposal is an increase of 113 billion won (5.8%) compared to the first supplementary budget of 1.94 trillion won. It includes projects related to the government's second supplementary budget, such as livelihood recovery consumption coupons, additional and revised projects funded by national and provincial subsidies, and projects for the restoration of damage caused by heavy rain.
By accounting category, the general account increased by 111.3 billion won to 1.7264 trillion won, and the special account increased by 1.7 billion won to 326.6 billion won, with local allocation tax and national and provincial subsidies serving as funding sources.
The main projects reflected in the expenditure budget include: ▲ 88.2 billion won for livelihood recovery consumption coupons ▲ 250 million won for new senior sports facility usage support programs ▲ 2.735 billion won for subsidies for the purchase of electric vehicles and trucks ▲ 2.34 billion won for temporary special support for youth monthly rent ▲ 1.8 billion won for the creation of a low-carbon green industrial complex ▲ 1.5 billion won for the construction of a public science museum ▲ 1.46 billion won for the issuance of Jinju Love Gift Certificates ▲ 1.04 billion won for infant and toddler care support, among others, which have all been increased or newly allocated.
In addition, to replenish the reserve funds used for emergency restoration and relief for victims of heavy rain in July, the disaster and calamity reserve fund has been increased by 3 billion won, and an additional 1.26 billion won has been allocated for facility restoration and additional damage prevention projects.
The second supplementary budget proposal for 2025, submitted by the city, is scheduled to be reviewed and finalized at the 268th extraordinary session of the city council, which will be held from September 9 to 16.
