Applications Open for 3 Million Won SOS Scholarship... Korea Student Aid Foundation to Select 1,500 Elementary, Middle, and High School Students

The Korea Student Aid Foundation (Chairman Bae Byungil) and the Ministry of Education will be accepting applications for the Lottery Fund Dream Ladder Scholarship Program's SOS Scholarship from the 1st to the 25th, a 25-day period.

The SOS Scholarship is a national scholarship program funded by the Ministry of Economy and Finance's lottery fund. It supports students facing urgent crises-such as a guardian's job loss or business closure, illness, or disasters-so they can continue their studies without interruption.

Selected students will receive a monthly scholarship of 300,000 won (a total of 3 million won) for 10 months. In addition, mental health programs such as psychological assessments and one-on-one professional counseling will also be provided.

This year, in particular, the number of recipients has been increased from the original 1,000 to 1,500 in order to strengthen support for those affected by disasters such as wildfires in the Gyeongsang region and heavy summer rainfall.

Furthermore, the eligibility criteria have been expanded from the original range of first-year middle school students to third-year high school students, to now include students from fifth grade in elementary school up to third-year high school students.

Bae Byungil, Chairman of the Korea Student Aid Foundation, stated, "I hope the SOS Scholarship will serve as a strong support for students facing difficulties, giving them the opportunity to focus on their studies without disruption."
