Held at Baeknyeon Market and Along Ui Stream
Performances by Park Seunghwa of Yurisangja, Travel Sketch, and Eunju of Sunny Hill
Gangbuk-gu in Seoul (District Mayor Lee Soonhee) will host the 2025 Gangbuk Baekmaek Festival on September 5 and 6 from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The event will take place in the Baeknyeon Market area and along the Ui Stream (from Ssanghan Bridge to Ui Bridge).
The Baekmaek Festival is an event where visitors can enjoy “a hundred kinds of food” and “a variety of craft beers” in one place, promoting the appeal of local businesses and the riverside area of Ui Stream. This year’s slogan is “Golden Guesthouse: Turn Worries into Beer, Satisfy Your Taste!!”
The festival will feature 68 participating vendors, including 45 shops from four traditional markets such as Baeknyeon Market, alleyway-style stores, and Gangbuk Cheongnyeon Maru. They will offer a diverse range of food menus, all priced under 10,000 won for affordability. Twelve craft beer breweries from across the country will also participate, serving local signature and limited-edition beers. The festival is expected to establish itself as a leading gourmet event representing Gangbuk.
The stage program includes a performance by Park Seunghwa of Yurisangja at 8:00 p.m. on September 5, and performances by band Travel Sketch and Sunny Hill’s Eunju at the same time on September 6. The festival grounds will be divided into three zones: Baeknyeon Market, the Ui Stream riverside dining area, and a third area, each featuring themed stages with Gangbuk’s official characters, a camping zone, and family spaces. There will also be Korean traditional yokai makeup performers and busking by local artists, offering a variety of attractions for attendees.
At its inaugural event in 2023, the Baekmaek Festival attracted around 43,000 visitors over two days and recorded 280 million won in sales. Last year, the festival drew about 58,000 visitors and achieved sales of approximately 300 million won, marking significant growth in both scale and results.
Lee Soonhee, Mayor of Gangbuk-gu, said, “I hope the Baekmaek Festival, where traditional markets, local businesses, and craft beer breweries come together, will widely promote Gangbuk’s appeal and revitalize the local economy. With a variety of programs and food, we aim to create unforgettable memories for all visitors.”
