Mass Production of LFP Batteries at Michigan Plant
Unveiling New Products for Grid and Data Centers
Targeting the North American Market with Diverse Form Factors
LG Energy Solution announced on July 31 that it will participate in "RE+ (Renewable Energy Plus) 2025," the largest renewable energy exhibition in North America, which will be held from August 8 to 11 (local time) in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
This year’s exhibition theme is "One-Stop Energy Storage System (ESS) Solution - Design, Production, Transportation, and Service for the North American Market," emphasizing the company’s competitiveness across the entire battery value chain.
LG Energy Solution presented its vision to lead the paradigm shift in the North American ESS market, going beyond simply unveiling new products. In response to the local production and supply chain security, safety verification, and operational service demands that have emerged since the implementation of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), the company is highlighting its "One-Stop ESS Solution."
Since the second quarter, LG Energy Solution has established a "Made in USA" foundation by becoming the first in the industry to locally mass-produce LFP (lithium iron phosphate) batteries for ESS at its Michigan plant. At this exhibition, the company will operate booths focusing on grid ESS, North American business capabilities, artificial intelligence data centers (AIDC), uninterruptible power supply (UPS), and residential ESS.
The main products on display include the "JF2 AC/DC Link System" tailored for North America, the industry’s first locally produced prismatic LFP battery cells, and pouch-type LFP batteries with capacities exceeding 500Wh. In addition, LG Energy Solution will unveil its next-generation UPS battery for AI data center demand for the first time and showcase a home ESS module based on locally produced LFP batteries.
Kim Hyungsik, Head of the ESS Battery Division at LG Energy Solution, said, "We have introduced the industry’s first local LFP production system in North America," adding, "We will continue to set new records as the first and the best in the North American market, based on our competitiveness with various form factors."
