Minimizing Client Risks
Law Firm Hwawoo (Chief Attorney Lee Myungsoo) has established a comprehensive response system comprised of experts from various fields, including legislation, policy, judiciary, and media, in preparation for the first National Assembly audit since the launch of the new administration.

This year’s National Assembly audit is the first to be held since the inauguration of the Lee Jaemyung administration. As such, it is considered an important occasion not only for political contention between the ruling and opposition parties but also for gauging the future direction of legislation and the government’s policy implementation stance.
In particular, with the recent passage of the Commercial Act amendment and the Yellow Envelope Act in the National Assembly, both of which are set to be implemented soon, and the government’s emphasis on strengthening the enforcement of the Serious Accidents Punishment Act, the management of corporate risk has emerged as a more critical issue than ever before.
Key issues expected to be addressed in this year’s audit include the criminal liability of management, the effectiveness of safety management systems, the scope of collective bargaining targets under the revised Trade Union Act, and the range of actions constituting unfair labor practices.
The National Assembly Audit Solution Team was established to proactively respond to these changes. Its goal is to diagnose various crisis situations that may arise during the audit process and to present practical solutions to minimize the risks faced by companies and organizations.
The Hwawoo National Assembly Audit Solution Team plans to provide a comprehensive and differentiated response solution, including: ▲ analysis of policy issues to be addressed during the audit; ▲ proactive response and risk management regarding the selection of witnesses and references; ▲ media and public opinion response strategies; ▲ development of policy and legal alternatives through the audit; and ▲ response to the final audit report.
In particular, the team aims to go beyond merely responding to the selection of witnesses. It intends to offer client-tailored solutions that comprehensively diagnose current risks and even turn the audit into an opportunity for clients. To this end, Hwawoo has assigned personnel capable of handling media relations and post-audit follow-up, ensuring that its One Team service is fully prepared to support clients.
The National Assembly Audit Solution Team is directly overseen by Kwangon Park, Advisor (former Democratic Party Floor Leader); Sungwook Cho, Chief Attorney (former Daejeon High Prosecutors’ Office Chief); Mingul Lee, Chief Attorney (former Daegu High Court Presiding Judge); Gangnam Il, Chief Attorney (former Deputy Prosecutor General at the Supreme Prosecutors’ Office); and Donggeun Lee, Chief Attorney (former Seoul High Court Presiding Judge).
Additionally, Byungchul Song, Advisor (former Chief Expert of the National Assembly Foreign Affairs and Unification Committee); Jaehyun Park, Advisor (former Editor-in-Chief at Maeil Business Newspaper); Youngho Yoon, Advisor (former Senior Reporter at Dong-A Ilbo); Kyungseok Byeon, Advisor (former official at government agencies related to intelligence and former administrator at the Blue House Civil Affairs Office); Yongtae Jo, Advisor (former Head of Industrial Technology Protection Headquarters and Head of Defense Industry Security); and expert advisors with experience as National Assembly aides will take charge of practical work at the forefront, leveraging their extensive experience and knowledge.
Hong Jungseok, Head of the GRC Center and planner of the National Assembly Audit Solution Team, stated, "The National Assembly audit has now become an unavoidable event that has a significant impact on corporate management activities. If companies continue to respond only to get through the audit period, as they have in the past, it could lead to even greater risks. Therefore, it is extremely important for companies to accurately diagnose issues and establish and implement customized response strategies."
He added, "The Hwawoo National Assembly Audit Solution Team will combine its extensive legislative and policy experience with its media network to provide clients with the best possible One Team service."
