On August 29, Gwangju City signed large-scale investment agreements with companies in the artificial intelligence (AI), automotive, and energy sectors at the city hall business room. Through these agreements, the city expects to attract 59.3 billion won in investments and create 189 new jobs.


The signing ceremony was attended by Mayor Kang Kijeong, Sun Seokgi, head of the Gwangju Free Economic Zone Authority, and representatives from the participating companies. Eight companies, both local and from outside the region, participated in the investment agreements, including two companies specializing in AI convergence, as well as firms related to the automotive and energy industries.


The city plans to actively support the growth of these companies by providing customized one-stop services. Dedicated teams for each industry and corporate support teams will collaborate to offer consulting, advisory, and administrative assistance to help companies grow.


Looking at the major participants' investment plans: Common Coding Co., Ltd. is preparing to establish a research hub in Gwangju based on its AI education platform. Duri Energy Co., Ltd. will build an AI software research center in the solar energy sector. Iin Co., Ltd. will focus on developing drones for disaster response, while Shinsojae Industry Co., Ltd. will concentrate on producing eco-friendly automotive parts.


Additionally, DH Auto I Co., Ltd. will relocate its headquarters to Gwangju, and Infra X Co., Ltd. and Hanado Co., Ltd. plan to invest in the development of AI-based road safety management systems and advanced agricultural equipment.


Mayor Kang Kijeong stated, "I am grateful to the companies that have decided to invest in Gwangju despite the challenging economic conditions," adding, "We will spare no effort to support these companies so they can grow in Gwangju and become leaders in future industries."


Meanwhile, in celebration of the 'Visit Gwangju Year,' the city is actively promoting the region's appeal to businesspeople and working to attract substantial investments through investment briefings and familiarization tours.
