Gwanak-gu to Host "Sinwon Market Moonlight Festival" on Summer Night, August 30

A Venue for Community Harmony Filled with Food, Performances, and Experiences

Gwanak-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Park Junhee), will hold the second edition of the summer signature event, the "Sinwon Market Moonlight Festival," on August 30 from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM in the Sinwon Market area.

Celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, the Sinwon Market Moonlight Festival has established itself as a leading event to revitalize traditional markets, offering a wide variety of attractions and entertainment for local residents and visitors. The district has planned this year's festival under the theme "A True Community Festival for Everyone," and the first event held last June received an enthusiastic response.

This second event will feature a range of programs, including nostalgic games for the whole family to enjoy at the traditional market, food booths, vibrant cultural performances, hands-on activities, and prize events such as gift certificates and giveaways based on purchase amounts.

At the "A Bite of Harmony in Taste" corner, visitors can sample bite-sized delicacies and purchase them in small packages. Other unique programs expected to attract visitors include "Find the King of Nostalgic Games!" which appeals to the memories of those in their 30s and 40s, a corn-hunting event where participants seek out hidden corn throughout the market with hints from merchants, and hands-on seafood experiences such as catching squid or freshwater snails.

Additionally, the event will offer a resident-participation singing contest, a flea market, and a "Four-Cut Life Photo" service by a professional photographer with the Starlight Naerincheon riverside terrace as the backdrop, ensuring enjoyment for families, friends, and couples alike.

During the festival, the Sinwon Market Merchants Association will work with relevant agencies to implement a safety management plan and rapid response system to prevent fires and accidents.

Park Junhee, Mayor of Gwanak-gu, stated, "I hope this festival will be a meaningful time that revitalizes the local economy and fosters community unity," adding, "I encourage all residents to come with their families, friends, and neighbors to cool off during the hot summer and create precious memories together."
