The group ILLIT has received a streaming gold certification from the Recording Industry Association of Japan ahead of their Japanese debut.
According to the Recording Industry Association of Japan on August 28, ILLIT (Yunah, Minju, Moka, Wonhee, Iroha)'s first original Japanese song, "Almond Chocolate," surpassed 50 million cumulative streams as of July, earning gold certification in the streaming category. This milestone was achieved just five months after the song's release, making it the fastest among songs by overseas artists released this year.
"Almond Chocolate," which was produced as the theme song for the film "I Don't Like You Just for Your Face" in February, gained popularity among Japanese fans through word of mouth and saw a resurgence on the charts. According to the Oricon chart, the song surpassed 50 million cumulative streams, setting the record for the most streams among songs by overseas female artists released in the first half of the year. It was also the only song by a K-pop group to be included in Amazon Music Japan's "Top 50 Overall Chart for the First Half of the Year."
This is ILLIT's second streaming certification from the Recording Industry Association of Japan. Last year, their debut song "Magnetic" surpassed 200 million cumulative streams in just 10 months after its release, earning "Double Platinum" status. This is the shortest period on record for a female group song, including those by local artists.
ILLIT will officially debut in Japan with their first single on September 1. They will then hold a fan concert, "2025 ILLIT GLITTER DAY IN JAPAN," at Osaka-jo Hall on September 3 and 4, and are scheduled to perform at the "41st Mynavi Tokyo Girls Collection 2025 AUTUMN/WINTER" on September 6 and the "Rock in Japan Festival 2025" on September 14.
