Keimyung University (President Shin Ilhee) held the 'Korea-Japan Joint Higher Education Student Exchange Program' and the 'Korean Language and Culture Camp (KLCC)' for 83 Japanese university students from August 4 to August 22, 2025, during the summer vacation.
The 'Korea-Japan Joint Higher Education Student Exchange Program', operated with support from the National Institute for International Education, included 20 fashion major students from three Japanese universities: Bunka Gakuen University, Ueda College of Fashion, and Kyoto Institute of Technology.
The participating students took Korean language and culture classes, as well as fashion design courses such as 'K-Fashion Graphic Design' and 'K-Fashion Styling'. They also visited domestic industrial sites for experiential learning.
The 'Korean Language and Culture Camp', organized by the Keimyung University Korean Language Institute, has been a flagship international exchange program held annually since 2004. This year, 63 students from 10 Japanese sister universities, including Hiroshima Shudo University, Momoyama Gakuin University, and Seigakuin University, participated. They experienced traditional culture through activities such as trying on Hanbok, making Korean food, Taekwondo, and Samulnori, as well as modern culture through K-pop dance and professional baseball games.
Additionally, through field trips to Daegu, Gyeongju, and Busan, the students gained a deeper understanding of Korean society and culture.
Shimboku Amin (20, female), a student at Bunka Gakuen University, said, "I've always been interested in K-fashion, so I'm delighted to participate in such a great program," adding, "After graduation, I want to become a fashion designer loved in both Korea and Japan."
Kim Sunjeong, Vice President for International Affairs at Keimyung University, stated, "This summer alone, more than 300 overseas professors and students from nine international programs visited Keimyung University," and added, "This is a result of the university's internationalization efforts and globally recognized Korean language education infrastructure. We will continue to work so that even more international students can come to Keimyung University in the future."
Meanwhile, as part of the Daegu City RISE project, Keimyung University plans to open the 'Thuy Loi-Keimyung Daegu Global Center' in Hanoi, Vietnam, this fall.
This center will not only support studying in Korea but also expand educational exchanges based on the Korean language and culture, and serve as a hub to promote the global city of Daegu.
