Mokwon University is set to advance its educational system to foster creative and convergent talents. The core focus is on improving the university’s overall educational system, including academic affairs, organizational structure, infrastructure, and performance indicators.
On August 27, Mokwon University announced that its Innovation Headquarters recently unveiled the "Third Cycle University Education Innovation Strategy" containing these plans during the "2025 University Innovation Headquarters Summer Workshop."

The goal for the third cycle of the University Innovation Support Project is "Fostering MY Talents through H.I.P." H.I.P. stands for Hyper Integrate Platform, which refers to a convergent educational system aimed at building a sustainable higher education ecosystem.
Through this initiative, Mokwon University plans to establish a sustainable and self-reliant foundation by simultaneously nurturing M-type talents-undergraduate students such as school-age learners and international students who create new value through in-depth and convergent studies-and Y-type talents-adult learners and working professionals who enhance their expertise by combining existing career and learning experiences with new learning opportunities.
The Innovation Headquarters intends to focus on cultivating creative and convergent talents to prepare for changes in the future society. In particular, the university will strengthen flexible major selection, convergent majors, and artificial intelligence (AI)-related education to enable learners to design customized majors that suit their individual needs, in line with rapidly changing industry demands.
This means establishing and operating a system that allows students to design their own academic paths beyond the confines of predetermined departments, aligning with their career aspirations.
For example, if a student in the Webtoon Department combines courses from the School of Business and the Department of Applied AI to design a "Convergent Major in AI-Based Webtoon Business," they will be able to develop comprehensive competencies, including story creation, reader data analysis, and content marketing.
The scope of education will also be expanded to include lifelong education tailored to different life cycles, such as foundational and advanced lifelong education, university specialization, and community care education, all based on liberal arts and major studies. The main goal is to strengthen Mokwon-style lifelong education, which not only enhances civic literacy through culture and the arts but also provides opportunities to deepen existing job competencies and develop new ones.
Mokwon University is also accelerating the cultivation of convergent talents encompassing AI and software (SW). In line with the software-centered university initiative, the university will restructure AI-SW related curricula to meet industry demands, expand enrollment quotas for related majors, and provide AI-SW convergence education to non-majors as well.
Shin Yeol, Head of the Innovation Headquarters and Vice President for Academic Affairs, stated, "The purpose of Mokwon University’s innovation is to systematize the educational innovation achievements we have accumulated and expand them to the local community, thereby building a self-sustaining educational ecosystem. We will strive to create a Mokwon-style educational model that grows together with the region."
