The "It's Okay to Take a Break" project was launched in July last year to help families who have provided long-term care for their loved ones take separate breaks and to raise awareness about the importance of rest. According to statistics from Seoul National University Hospital, parents caring for children with severe illnesses spend an average of 14 hours per day on caregiving, while their personal average rest time is just over one hour.

With this in mind, Hanwha began by supporting trips to Jeju Island, offering short but complete breaks to families exhausted from long-term care of children with serious illnesses over the past year. While the families traveled, the children received care at the Nexon Children’s Integrated Care Center (Dotori House) at Seoul National University Hospital, allowing each family member to have their own time. After returning from their trip, the families also received support such as premium food ingredients to help them maintain a healthy daily life.

A Hanwha Hotels & Resorts representative stated, "Given the nature of families caring for seriously ill children, many hesitated to travel in the first year of the program due to feelings of guilt and burden about leaving their sick child behind." However, the representative added, "As the families who took the first step showed a high level of satisfaction, the number of participating families has recently increased significantly."

Kwon Yongmi, who visited Hanwha Resort Yeosu Belmer in December last year, shared, "For the first time, our family of four traveled without our sick child. We always thought traveling was a luxury for us since we had to be by our child's side every day, but through 'It's Okay to Take a Break,' I was able to have meaningful conversations with my two daughters that we hadn't had before."

In the satisfaction survey, the vast majority of families (99%) responded that they experienced a recharging effect through separate rest. Many also said that the message of "It's Okay to Take a Break" helped them achieve emotional stability. Other sincere feedback included, "For the first time, the three of us sat together for a meal," and "No one had ever told us to take a break, but it was truly empowering." To mark the first anniversary of the project, a story video featuring the voices of participating families was released through the official YouTube channel of Hanwha Hotels & Resorts on this day.

In addition to the "It's Okay to Take a Break" project, Hanwha's Distribution and Service Division is engaged in a variety of social contribution activities, such as "Monthly Sip," which supports low-income families with children with disabilities in partnership with the Milal Welfare Foundation. A Hanwha Hotels & Resorts representative said, "Through these two projects over the past year, we have raised awareness about the importance of rest and provided small but meaningful support to families with seriously ill children," adding, "We will continue to carry out diverse social contribution activities to help build a better society."
