The Climate Industry International Expo, which will be held at BEXCO in Busan from the 27th to the 29th, is jointly hosted by the Korean government, the International Energy Agency (IEA), and the World Bank (WB). In particular, this year, the expo is being held in conjunction with international ministerial conferences as part of the government's "Energy Super Week" program, including the 15th APEC Energy Ministers' Meeting, the 16th Clean Energy Ministerial, and the 10th Mission Innovation Ministerial.
This year marks the third consecutive year that Korea Zinc has participated as an exhibitor at the Climate Industry International Expo. Since Chairman Choi Yoonbum took office in 2022, Korea Zinc has been pursuing its new business strategy, the "Troika Drive," which includes renewable energy and green hydrogen, resource circulation, and secondary battery materials businesses. Until last year's exhibition, the company mainly promoted its renewable energy and green hydrogen business centered on its Australian subsidiary, but starting this year, it also plans to widely promote its resource circulation business based in the United States and other regions.
For this exhibition, Korea Zinc selected four main themes: Conversion, Circulation, Connection, and Carbon-Free. The booth features an integrated value chain diorama, four large screens, strategic mineral display models, a hydrogen forklift from the Onsan Smelter, kiosk content for each zone, an artificial intelligence (AI)-based waste sorting robot (Robin), and a quadruped AI safety management robot.
The diorama located at the center of the booth is designed in the shape of an infinity symbol, representing sustainability. In the renewable energy and green hydrogen section of the diorama, the company introduces its 9-gigawatt (GW) scale renewable energy development and power generation projects, as well as its large-scale battery energy storage system (ESS) business. The resource circulation section showcases the process of recovering valuable metals from waste resources and producing 100% recycled products such as copper and silver.
In addition, Korea Zinc plans to demonstrate the AI-based waste sorting robot Robin, developed in collaboration with its U.S. subsidiary Pedal Point Ignio, as well as the quadruped robot introduced at the Onsan Smelter, to visitors. Robin is a solution developed by Korea Zinc's subsidiary, RoboOne. The booth is also designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of Korea Zinc's technological capabilities and future vision through strategic mineral models and kiosk content.
A Korea Zinc representative stated, "Our renewable energy and green hydrogen business, as well as our resource circulation business, which are being promoted to achieve carbon-free Green Metal production, are showing tangible results centered on our Australian and U.S. subsidiaries. We are confident that this Climate Industry International Expo will serve as a successful platform to promote Korea Zinc's vision, which connects green energy, green hydrogen, resource circulation, and Green Metal."
