Former Korean history instructor Han Gil Jeon announced that he has departed for Washington, D.C., where the South Korea-U.S. summit will be held. He explained that his purpose is to raise awareness about the human rights violations against former President Yoon Suk Yeol and the injustice of the special investigation into insurrection, and to deliver an objective account of the situation to the international media, rather than relying on the left-leaning Korean press.
On the 25th, Han Gil Jeon released a pre-recorded video filmed at the gate of Incheon Airport through his YouTube channel, 'Jeon Han Gil News.' He stated, "I left the country in complete secrecy because I was concerned that a travel ban might be imposed if news of my departure became public," adding, "By the time you watch this broadcast, I will probably be en route to the United States or just about to arrive."
Jeon said, "President Lee Jae Myung is holding his first South Korea-U.S. summit with President Trump, and I am very concerned. Even the protocol for President Lee was different from before," and continued, "Currently, the summit is taking place without proper coordination of the agenda, and it is unclear whether there will even be a joint statement. President Lee is not receiving a state-level reception, which means the United States does not recognize him."
He further claimed, "President Lee is aiming for long-term rule through constitutional amendment and will move toward a dictatorship, even shutting down this YouTube channel," and added, "I am heading to the United States to inform the international community about the human rights violations against former President Yoon Suk Yeol, the injustice of the special investigation into insurrection, and issues such as media suppression."
Meanwhile, Jeon announced that after a live broadcast from the United States on that day, he plans to attend events such as the Washington Truth Forum and the Korean American Forum.
