A recent survey on the introduction of AI assistants confirmed high levels of usage experience and expectations among employees, drawing further attention to the potential for digital innovation within the public sector.

The city conducted a survey of all employees this past August, with 412 public officials participating to share their current use of AI and their opinions.

The survey found that over 80% of respondents had already used generative AI in their work. In addition, 96% of employees responded that an AI assistant would be helpful in their work, indicating very high expectations for administrative innovation.

In particular, areas identified as having high demand included: Q&A regarding laws, guidelines, and internal regulations (93%); information search (93%); document summarization (93%); and automatic drafting of reports and official documents (91%). This reflects a strong willingness among employees to actively apply AI to repetitive and time-consuming administrative tasks.

Expected benefits of introducing an AI assistant included "improving administrative efficiency through automation of repetitive and simple tasks" (74%) and "reducing the time required to draft document templates" (69%), suggesting that both work efficiency and citizen services could be positively impacted.

Based on the results of this survey, the city plans to carefully review employee feedback and comprehensively examine the necessity and feasibility of introducing AI assistants in the future.

An official from Goyang Special City stated, "This survey confirmed that our employees have a high level of interest in AI and a strong willingness to use it actively," adding, "We will continue to carefully seek ways to enhance administrative efficiency and citizen satisfaction by reflecting a wide range of opinions."
