Finals Featuring Representative Teams from 16 Cities and Provinces
The 34th National Dance Festival, the premier stage where outstanding dance arts from across the country can be experienced in one place, will open with a spectacular ceremony at 5:30 p.m. on September 5 at the Fountain Plaza of the Daejeon Museum of Art.
Hosted by Daejeon Metropolitan City and the Korea Dance Association, and organized by the Korea Dance Association and the 34th National Dance Festival Executive Committee, this festival will be held for 11 days until September 15 at venues throughout Daejeon, including the Daejeon Arts Center, Daejeon Yeonjeong Korean Traditional Music Center, and Daejeon Artist House.
This year's slogan is "Daejeon, Meeting the Future Through Dance." The festival features a variety of programs such as the opening and closing ceremonies with celebratory performances, the finals featuring representatives from 16 cities and provinces, an academic symposium, as well as pre-festival and side events.
The opening ceremony will begin at the Fountain Plaza of the Museum of Art with an opening performance and declaration, followed by celebratory performances at the Daejeon Arts Center Art Hall by the Daejeon City Dance Company and Linkin Art, the recipient of the Korea Dance Grand Prize.
The finals will feature representative dance troupes from 16 cities and provinces that have passed the regional preliminaries, competing in both group and solo categories.
The group category will be held daily at 7 p.m. from September 6 to 14 at the Daejeon Arts Center Art Hall and the Yeonjeong Korean Traditional Music Center Grand Theater, while the solo category will take place at 4 p.m. on September 11 and 12 at the Nuri Hall of the Daejeon Artist House.
In addition, a variety of pre-festival and side events are planned to further heighten the excitement of the festival, including the Masterpiece Dance Theater (August 23, Yeonjeong Korean Traditional Music Center), K-Ballet World Star Gala (August 30, Yeonjeong Korean Traditional Music Center), Daejeon Master and Dance Virtuoso Showcase (September 3, Yeonjeong Korean Traditional Music Center), Academic Symposium (September 5, Museum of Art Main Auditorium), Outdoor Boom-Up Fringe Performances (September 6-7, Museum of Art Fountain Plaza), and Media Art and Local Dancer Archive Exhibition (September 5-14, Arts Center and Yeonjeong Korean Traditional Music Center).
The closing ceremony will take place at 4 p.m. on September 15 in the main auditorium of Daejeon City Hall, featuring an awards ceremony, the handover of the festival flag, and the official closing declaration.
