Regarding the police's conclusion that there were no charges against First Lady Kim Jung-sook concerning allegations that Cheong Wa Dae's special activity funds were used for her clothing expenses, Yoon Geonyoung, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, stated, "This decision clearly confirms that the ruthless investigation by the Yoon Suk Yeol administration into former President Moon Jae-in and his family was politically motivated retaliation."
On the 22nd, Assemblyman Yoon emphasized through a public message, "Whenever suspicions arise regarding the misdeeds of the administration related to Kim Keon Hee, the Yoon Suk Yeol administration and the People Power Party have invariably dragged former President Moon Jae-in and his family into the controversy, raised groundless allegations for the sake of diversion and protection, and mobilized investigative agencies to conduct aggressive investigations. They must now reflect on their own wrongdoing."
Previously, the Anti-Corruption Investigation Unit of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency decided on July 29 not to refer First Lady Kim's case to the prosecution, concluding that there was 'no charge' regarding allegations of loss of state funds under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Economic Crimes.
In a separate case, the Seoul Seodaemun Police Station also decided on August 12 not to refer the case against Moon Da-hye, who was accused of fraud and occupational embezzlement for allegedly not donating proceeds from a charity fundraising event. The Seodaemun Police explained the reason for not referring the case, stating, "The charity bazaar was actually held, and there is no evidence that the proceeds were used arbitrarily or misappropriated."
