Heat Wave Advisories in Effect Nationwide
Showers Expected in Some Regions
Temperatures to Reach Up to 37°C,
Light Rain Possible in Parts of Chungnam and Jeonbuk

On Friday, August 22, heat wave advisories will be in effect for most regions across the country.

According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, the highest daytime temperatures are forecast to range from 31 to 37 degrees Celsius. As of 5 a.m., temperatures in major cities were as follows: Seoul 26.3°C, Incheon 26.7°C, Suwon 24.8°C, Chuncheon 25.0°C, Gangneung 26.4°C, Cheongju 26.7°C, Daejeon 26.1°C, Jeonju 26.6°C, Gwangju 26.2°C, Jeju 27.2°C, Daegu 25.3°C, Busan 27.2°C, Ulsan 25.0°C, and Changwon 26.0°C.


There may be light rain in the inland areas of Chungnam and Jeonbuk. Showers are expected in eastern Jeolla, southern Gyeongbuk, inland areas of Ulsan and Gyeongnam, and Jeju Island between the afternoon and evening. The expected rainfall amounts are 5 to 60 mm for Daegu, southern Gyeongbuk, Ulsan, and inland Gyeongnam; 5 to 40 mm for eastern Jeonbuk and Jeonnam; and 5 to 20 mm for Jeju Island.


Wave heights will range from 0.5 to 1.0 meters in the coastal waters of the East Sea and West Sea, and 0.5 meters in the coastal waters of the South Sea. In offshore areas (up to about 200 km from the coastline), wave heights are expected to be 0.5 to 1.5 meters in the East Sea, West Sea, and South Sea.
