Kyung Hee University to Host 27th World Foreigners Korean Speaking Contest in October
Open to All Non-Korean Speakers Worldwide
The Institute of International Education at Kyung Hee University will host the 27th World Foreigners Korean Speaking Contest on October 16 at its main campus.
Launched in 1998, this annual contest is held to commemorate the birthday of King Sejong and to create a platform for global communication in Korean.
The themes for this year's contest are "A Moment Connected with Korea" and "My Hometown, It Also Has 'This'!", and any foreigner who can speak Korean may choose one of the topics to participate.
Applicants must submit a script for a presentation of up to three minutes when applying, and registration is only available through the Kyung Hee University Institute of International Education website.
Applications will be accepted until September 5. The preliminary round will be held over two days starting September 18 at the Institute of International Education at Kyung Hee University.
In the final round, awards and prize money will be given as follows: one Grand Prize winner (1.5 million KRW), two Excellence Awards (1 million KRW each), three Special Awards (800,000 KRW each), three Merit Awards (500,000 KRW each), and three Encouragement Awards (200,000 KRW each).
Meanwhile, in the 26th speaking contest, a total of 1,010 participants from 32 countries applied, and 16 contestants from 11 countries advanced to the final round.
