Yes24 Artipio to Hold Art Talk on the 29th: "Can Horror Movies Also Be Art?"

Film Review YouTuber Kim Siseon and Docent Kim Chanyong to Lead Lecture

Artipio, a subsidiary of Yes24, will hold the 16th Art Talk event titled "Can Horror Movies Also Be Art?" at 7:00 p.m. on August 29 at Cafe Heuk in Yongsan-gu, Seoul. The event will feature three horror films-"Get Out," "The Medium," and "Cure"-as well as three works by modern art masters Francis Bacon, Frida Kahlo, and George Condo. The discussion will closely examine psychological devices that create fear through composition, color, gaze, and silence, as well as the aesthetics of horror depicted on canvas.

The collaborative lecture, which will dissect the codes of fear found in both film and art, will be led by film review YouTuber Kim Siseon and docent Kim Chanyong. Kim Siseon began his career in 2014 with the YouTube channel "Siseon Play" and currently operates the "Kim Siseon" channel, which has 2.07 million subscribers. Kim Chanyong has been working as a docent at exhibitions for 18 years since 2007 and currently runs the "Talk About Art" channel.

An Artipio representative stated, "Fear is an important theme that goes beyond simple stimulation to artistically reflect on human anxiety," adding, "This Art Talk will be an opportunity to understand the emotion of fear and newly approach the aesthetics of horror from the different perspectives of film and art experts."
