Damyang County in South Jeolla Province (Governor Jeong Cheolwon) announced on the 21st that it held a meeting of Hometown Love Donation Program thank-you gift suppliers on the 20th to share the program's achievements in the first half of the year and discuss strategies to differentiate the thank-you gifts.
During the meeting, participants shared the first-half performance of Damyang County's Hometown Love Donation Program and the sales results of thank-you gifts. Together with external experts, they also explored promotional strategies that would set Damyang apart from other local governments.
In particular, there was an in-depth discussion on various ideas for holiday-themed events to be held ahead of Chuseok. Based on these discussions, the county plans to prepare attractive thank-you gifts for donors.
A county official stated, "Ahead of Chuseok, we exchanged a variety of ideas with suppliers to deliver better thank-you gifts to donors. Moving forward, we will continue to create regular opportunities for communication with thank-you gift suppliers to gather feedback from the field."
Meanwhile, the Hometown Love Donation Program allows individuals to donate up to 20 million won per year to local governments (metropolitan or basic) outside their place of residence. Donations are fully tax-deductible up to 100,000 won, and amounts exceeding this are eligible for a 16.5% tax credit. Donors can also receive thank-you gifts worth up to 30% of their donation. Those who donate to Damyang County can enjoy free admission to public tourist attractions for one year.
Additionally, for donations made within three months from the declaration date (July 22) to Damyang County, which has been designated a special disaster area, the tax credit rate for the portion exceeding 100,000 won is increased to 33%.
