President Lee Jaemyung will appear on a television program on the 20th to discuss the present and future of K-pop.
On the 19th, the Presidential Office announced through a press release that President Lee will participate in Arirang International Broadcasting's special program "K-pop: The Next Chapter." This program has been organized to examine K-pop's global status and the potential of global content, as well as to discuss various ideas for the development of K-pop.
The program will feature director Maggie Kang of the recently released K-pop-themed animated film "Kpop Demon Hunters," which has sparked a worldwide sensation. Other guests include Jihyo and Jeongyeon, members of the group TWICE who performed songs for the film, music producer R.Tee, and music critic Kim Youngdae. The show will be hosted by broadcaster Jang Sungkyu.
The Presidential Office stated, "In order for our country to become a cultural powerhouse among the Big 5 of soft power, continuous growth and innovation in cultural industries, including K-pop, are essential. We plan to utilize the insights and voices from the field shared through this program in shaping future policy directions."
