Namwon City in North Jeolla Province is accepting applications for students for the "2025 Namwon City Social Economy Academy" until August 20.
According to the city on August 14, the recruitment is open to village communities interested in the social economy, local small business owners and small enterprises, prospective entrepreneurs, and the general public.
This academy has been designed as a customized education program to expand the base of the social economy, foster the creation of social economy enterprises, and prepare sustainable roadmaps, in line with the new government's vision for reestablishing the social economy ecosystem (discovery-development-growth).
The training will take place over five sessions from August 21 to September 18 at the Namwon City Community Support Center, and there is no tuition fee. The program will accept up to 30 participants. Graduates of the academy will receive a certificate of completion, and those who attend more than 80% of the entire course will have their participation recognized as prior training when applying for the 2026 Preliminary Social Enterprise designation.
The curriculum covers a comprehensive range of practical topics, including: understanding the social economy and related support policies; case studies of outstanding social enterprises; social economy start-up cases in new business fields (solar energy); modeling social economy business models; and customized consulting for responding to the 2026 preliminary social enterprise and village enterprise designation calls.
Through this training, the city expects to enhance citizens' understanding of the social economy while simultaneously fostering both the potential and capacity for launching social economy enterprises.
